The Sevier County Housing Authority (SCHA) is currently accepting Public Housing waiting list pre-applications for families and senior/disabled households.The SCHA offers one Public Housing community with 111 units for families and senior/disabled households, ranging in size from 1 to 3 bedrooms.Please note: This waiting list has preferences. This means that applicants who qualify for these preferences will receive assistance before applicants who do not. Because of there preferences, it is likely applicants who do qualify will have a long wait to receive assistance, or will not receive assistance from this office.To apply, visit the SCHA office to pick up a pre-application, located at 304 S 13th St., De Queen, AR 71832, from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm CT, Monday-Friday.Once the pre-application has been completed, it must be hand delivered to the address listed above, from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm, Monday-Friday.Be sure to include these documents with the pre-application: Social Security Cards and birth certificates for all household members, proof of all income, and photo ID for adult household members, divorce papers (if applicable), child support papers (if applicable).The SCHA does have a preference for: Victims of domestic violence, working families, disabled, and elderly.Important note: Applicants will receive a confirmation number when either applying, or being placed on the waiting list, depending on housing authority policy. It is important to keep that number in a safe, easy to access place. It will be needed any time when referencing your pre-application with the housing authority.If any of your application information changes from the time you submitted the original pre-application (such as contact information, income, and household members), inform the housing authority immediately. In the case that the office sends a notice that does not get returned, or if application information is out of date, your name may be terminated from the waiting list.
