Section 8 HCV Waiting List Status: Closed

The Housing Authority of the City of Pomona Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Waiting List is currently closed.

The waiting list last opened for pre-applications from July 14-18, 2014.  An estimated 6,000 applications were requested during the 5 day open period.

Prior to this, the waiting list had not been opened since November 2007.  As of April 2014, according to the housing authorities 5 year PHA plan, there were 416 persons on the waiting list.  Also according to their 5 year plan, the Pomona Housing Authority had expected about 4,000 applicants for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program.  The 6,000 pre-registrations seem to indicate that demand for housing assistance is much higher than anticipated.

The only way to apply was first by by phone from July 14-18.  Four weeks from the date of calling in, the housing authority will send a full application packet to pre-registrants.  The applicant will then need to complete and return the application by mail.

IMPORTANT:  The Pomona Housing Authority has a local preference for persons who work, live or go to school in the Pomona area.  If you do not meet the local preference, you will be added to the list last.  With nearly 6,000 applicants, any non-local applicants would be placed at the end of the waiting list.
