The Alton City Housing Authority is currently accepting public housing waiting list applications for families and elderly/disabled individuals. 


This Housing Authority has two apartment complexes dedicated to the elderly/disabled individuals and two apartment complexes dedicated to families, located throughout Alton City.


To apply for public housing, visit their office during normal business hours Monday- Friday, located at 2406 Crawford Ave., Alton, IL 62002.


Once the application is completed you must hand deliver it on Wednesday's only between the hours of 9am-5pm.  All adults in the household must be present.  Also, be sure to bring birth certificates, social security cards, proof of income, and photo IDs for 18 an older applicants.


This Housing Authority lists the following preferences that may improve your spot on the waiting list as:  working for 6 months, elderly, disabled, veteran, homeless, local, or training/education.


The wait time for public housing is approximately one year.
