Public Housing Waiting List Status : Open

Affordable Housing Online is tracking the status of the Albion Housing Commission Public Housing Waiting Lists. This is what we know as of our most recent update August 7th, 2015.

The Albion Housing Commission (AHC) is currently accepting Public Housing waiting list pre-applications for families and senior/disabled individuals.

The AHC offers one Public Housing community with 218 units for families and senior/disabled individuals.

There are two ways to apply:
  1. Visit the AHC to pick up a pre-application, located at 1300 Cooper St., Albion, MI 49224, during normal office hours.
  2. Download the online pre-application here, then print and complete.
Once the application has been completed, it can be mailed to PO Box 630, Albion, MI 49224, or hand delivered to the office address listed above.

Be sure to include copies of these documents with your application: Birth certificates, Social Security Cards, proof of all income, and photo IDs for all adult household members.

The AHC has listed the following preferences: Families with children, senior, disabled, and veterans.

Public housing agencies, also called public housing authorities, which receive funding from HUD, are required to submit and receive approval from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development of both an Annual Plan and a 5 Year Plan. These plans establish each housing authority’s policies, strategies, programs and operations for meeting the housing needs of persons within their target area.

The housing authority plans include specific details about the cost of renovations to real estate (also known as capital improvements), changes to Section 8 HCV policies, planned redevelopment of public housing projects and other major administrative changes.
