Section 8 Waiting List Status: Open Indefinitely

The Brownwood Housing Authority (BHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently open. This waiting list is open indefinitely.

Brownwood, TX is about 140 miles northwest of Austin, TX.

To apply, visit the BHA office to pick up an application, located at 1500 Terrace Dr., Brownwood, TX 76801, from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm CT, Monday-Thursday.

Once the application has been completed, it must be hand delivered to the address listed above, from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm, Monday-Thursday.

Be sure to include these documents with the application: Social Security Cards and birth certificates for all household members, government issued IDs for all adult household members, and proof of all income.

This waiting list has no preferences. 

Applicants will be placed on the waiting list by the date and time the application is received.

The current wait time for a Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher is approximately 4 to 6 months.

Important note: Applicants who have been placed on the waiting list must inform the housing authority immediately if your application information changes (such as contact information, income, and household members). In the case that the office sends a notice that does not get returned, or if application information is out of date, your name may be terminated from the waiting list. Contact the housing authority to find out how to update application information.

Public housing agencies, also called public housing authorities, which receive funding from HUD, are required to submit and receive approval from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development of both an Annual Plan and a 5 Year Plan.
