Open Until Further Notice: Abilene Housing Authority Public Housing Waiting List

The Abilene Housing Authority (AHA) Public Housing waiting list is currently open, since at least June, 2017, until further notice.

Please note: The AHA Public Housing program offers 1, 2, 3, and 4-Bedroom units.

To apply, complete the online application.

This waiting list has the following preferences: 

  • Age 62 or over
  • Disabled (Disclosure of a disability is optional, but it is necessary to receive a Disabled Preference.)
  • MFP Program Preference - For individuals exiting institutions (hospital, nursing home, intermediate care facilities, and in limited cases psychiatric facilities)
  • Displaced by Disaster
  • Non-Elderly Disabled - For applicants with any family member that is disabled, age 18-61, that are in one of the following groups: 1. Transitioning out of institutional and other segregated settings, 2. At serious risk of institutionalization, 3. Homeless. 4. Or at risk of becoming homeless. (For more information click here.)

It is not known how applicants will be placed on the waiting list.

As of June 2017, the approximate wait by bedroom size: "1 bedroom 24-36 months; 2 bedroom 24-36 months; 3 & 4 bedroom 12-24 months."
