Section 8 Waiting List Status: Open Indefinitely

Affordable Housing Online is tracking the status of the Tooele County Housing Authority Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Waiting List. This is what we know as of our most recent update on August 31st, 2016.

The Tooele County Housing Authority (TCHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program waiting list is currently open. This waiting list is open indefinitely.

There are two ways to apply:

  1. Download and print the pre-application online here.
  2. Pickup a pre-application at the TCHA office, located at 66 W Vine St, Tooele, UT 84074.
Once the pre-application has been completed, it can be mailed or hand delivered to the TCHA office at the address above.

The following preferences have been identified: Victims of domestic violence, displaced, tenants of the TCHA Public Housing program, work in Tooele County, homeless.

Applicants will receive a confirmation number upon submitting the pre-application. It is important to keep that number in a safe, easy to access place. It will be needed any time when referencing your pre-application with the housing authority.

There is currently a four year wait for applicants with preferences.

Public Housing Waiting List Status : Open

Affordable Housing Online is tracking the status of the Tooele County Housing Authority Public Housing Waiting Lists. This is what we know as of our most recent update May 22nd, 2015.

The Tooele Housing Authority is currently accepting public housing waiting list applications for families and senior/disabled individuals.

This housing authority offers one apartment community for families and senior/disabled individuals.

There are two ways to apply for public housing:
1. Visit the housing authority to pick up an application, located at 66 W. Vine St., Tooele, UT 84074, Monday-Friday, during normal office hours.
2. Download an application here, then print and complete.

Once the application has been completed it can be mailed or hand delivered to the address listed above. If you are claiming a preference please include that documentation, otherwise no documents are needed at this time.

This housing authority does have a preference point system that may improve your spot on the waiting list: elderly, disabled, victim of domestic violence, collecting social security or disability, working 20 or more hours a week, or a full time student.

The Tooele County Housing Authority administers both a public housing and Section 8 housing voucher program. The housing authority owns and manages 1 projects which contain 22 affordable rental units. It also administers 215 Section 8 housing vouchers.

This score is a reflection of how well the housing authority manages the Section 8 waiting list, the physical quality of housing assisted with Section 8 and the financial management of the program.

From 2001 to 2009, Tooele County Housing Authority scored an average of 95 points as of the last set of publicly available data. The housing authority had a high score of 100 in 2002 and a low score of 83 in 2001. The average SEMAP Score for Housing Authorities in Utah is 82.02.

Housing Authority Annual and 5 Year Plans

Public housing agencies, also called public housing authorities, which receive funding from HUD, are required to submit and receive approval from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development of both an Annual Plan and a 5 Year Plan. These plans establish each housing authority’s policies, strategies, programs and operations for meeting the housing needs of persons within their target area.

The housing authority plans include specific details about the cost of renovations to real estate (also known as capital improvements), changes to Section 8 HCV policies, planned redevelopment of public housing projects and other major administrative changes.
