The Plaza Townhomes community is home to 68 families in the north side of Portland, Ore. Though historically a blue-collar neighborhood, the community around Michigan Avenue has been gentrifying rapidly, and many hardworking residents have been priced out of their homes. Like much of the city, the residents of Plaza Townhomes have lived in fear of rent increases that, if dictated by the open market, would be unaffordable. However, Community Preservation Partners (CPP) stepped in and rehabilitated the community through an agreement that will improve the property and keep rents affordable for 30 more years.
