This waiting list is for Section 8 Project-Based Voucher rental housing assistance in Kern County, California .

The Housing Authority of the County of Kern (HACK) will accept Section 8 Project Based Voucher waiting list applications for Multiple Properties from May 1, 2024 at 10:00 am until May 30, 2024 5:00 pm PT.

Please note: Applicants will need to apply for each location individually during the time frame that the waiting list is open. The PBV Program offers rental housing options at specific apartments in Kern County, The list of properties can be found here.

To apply while the waitlist is open, complete the online application.

This waiting list has the following preferences:

  • Someone who is involuntarily displaced due to; natural disaster, governmental action, avoiding reprisals and/or victims of hate crimes.
  • Veterans and/or servicemen
  • Homeless individuals and families
  • Local residents of Kern County are given preference over applicants from other communities.

Selected applicants will be placed on the waiting list by random lottery, by order of preferences.
