The Palm Beach County Housing Authority (PBCHA) last accepted Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from June 6, 2022, until the earliest confirmed close date of March 28, 2023. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

To apply during the opening period, applicants were required to complete the online application. Paper applications were not distributed or accepted. No mailed, faxed or hand delivered applications were accepted.

This waiting list had the following preferences:

  • Any family that has been terminated from the PHAs HCV program due to insufficient program funding
  • Working families (2 point): where the head, spouse or sole member is employed for at least 30 hours a week. However, an applicant where the head and spouse or sole member is a person age 62 or older, or is a person with disabilities, must also be given the benefit of this preference .
  • Homeless families (2 points): A homeless family is a household that is (1) living on the street, in an emergency shelter or in a transitional housing facility, or (2) is a client of a case management program service for the homeless.
  • Non-elderly persons with disabilities (2 points) transitioning out of institutional and other segregated settings, at serious risk of institutionalization, homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless
  • Involuntarily displaced families (1 point): a family in which each member, or whose sole member, is a person displaced by governmental action, or a person whose dwelling has been extensively damaged or destroyed as a result of a disaster declared or otherwise formally recognized pursuant to Federal disaster relief laws
  • The PHA will also offer a preference for veterans, victims of domestic violence, and disabled families where a household member is a person with disabilities

Selected applicants were placed on the waiting list by random lottery, weighed by order of preferences.
