The Vermilion Housing Authority (VHA) last accepted Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from January 30, 2024, until February 1, 2024. This waiting list was last open in September, 2023. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

To apply while the waiting list was open, applicants were required to apply in person at the following locations:

  • January 30, 2024: Hoopeston Multi Agency Service Center.
  • January 31, 2024: Vermilion County Health Department.
  • February 1, 2024: Vermilion Housing Authority Richie Manor Office.

There were preferences, but they have not yet been confirmed.

It was not known how applicants were placed on the waiting list.

Open Until Further Notice: Vermilion Housing Authority Public Housing Waiting List

The Vermilion Housing Authority (VHA) is accepting Public Housing waiting list applications since at least November, 2020, until further notice.

Please note: According to the VHA "Online applications for Low-Income Public Housing will not be accessible the week of March 13 - March 17, 2023. If you would like to apply, you may download and print an application or obtain one from our administrative building during this week. "

There are two ways to apply during the opening period:

This waiting list has the following preferences:

  • Vermilion County ResidentHas a legal domicile in Vermilion County
  • VeteranHead of household has served in the United States Armed Forces and who was discharged or released from such service under conditions other than dishonorable
  • WorkingHead/Spouse/Co-head work a minimum of twenty (20) hours per week
  • ElderlyHead/Spouse/Co-head is 62 years or older
  • DisabledHead/Spouse/Co-head is disabled
  • Displaced by Natural DisasterFire, flood, earthquake or other federally declared disaster that has caused the unit to be uninhabitable
  • Displaced by Domestic ViolenceDisplaced by domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking

It is not known how selected applicants will be placed on the waiting list.
