The Shamokin City Housing Authority (SCHA) is currently accepting Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher applications.

 

Please note: As of July 2017, the SCHA does not have a waiting list and vouchers are currently available. There is no notice of when sign ups will close.

 

To apply, you must visit the housing authority to pick up an application, located at 1 E Independence St., Shamokin, PA, during normal office hours.

 

Once the application has been completed, it must be hand delivered to the address listed above. 

 

Be sure to bring these original documents with you when handing in your application: birth certificates, social security cards, proof of all income, verification of assets, copies of bank statements, and photo IDs for all adult household members. All adult household members must be present when handing in the application.

 

This waiting list has the following preferences: Local residents, veteran, displaced by government action.

The Shamokin Housing Authority is currently accepting public housing waiting list applications for families and senior/disabled individuals.

 

The SHA offers two public housing communities with 202 units for families and senior/disabled individuals.

 

To apply for public housing, you must visit the housing authority to pick up an application, located at 1 E Independence St., Shamokin, PA, during normal office hours.

 

Once the application has been completed, it must be hand delivered to the address listed above. Be sure to bring these original documents with you when handing in your application: birth certificates, social security cards, proof of all income, verification of assets, copies of bank statements, and photo IDs for all adult household members. All adult household members must be present when handing in the application.

12% of households were headed by a person 24 years old or less, 34% were headed by a person 25 to 49 years old, 29% were headed by a person 51 to 60 years old, and 26% were headed by a person 62 years old or older. In addition, -1% of households were headed by a person 85 years old or older.
