Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee Waiting List

The Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee (HACM) is accepting Senior and Disabled Public Housing waiting list applications for apartments at Arlington Court, College Court, Hillside Terrace High-Rise, Lincoln Court, Locust Court, Mitchell Court and Riverview Apartments from December 15, 2021 at 9:00 am CT, until further notice.

This waiting list is for the following properties:

Arlington Court has 1-Bedroom units.
College Court has 1-Bedroom units.
Hillside Terrace High-Rise has 1 and 2-Bedroom units.
Lincoln Court has 1-Bedroom units.
Locust Court has 1-Bedroom units.
Mitchell Court has 1-Bedroom units.
Riverview has 1-Bedroom units.

To apply while the waitlist is open, complete the online application.

The maximum income limits for each household size are as follows:

1 person $47,250 | 5 persons $72,900
2 persons $54,000 | 6 persons $78,300
3 persons $60,750 | 7 persons $83,700
4 persons $67,500 | 8 persons $89,100

This waiting list has the following preferences:

Elderly (62+ years of age and older)
Near elderly (50 - 61 years of age and older), and/or disabled (18 years of age and older)

It is not known how applicants will be placed on the waiting list.

Lincoln Court is located near the busy and popular intersection of Lincoln, Howell and Kinnickinnic Avenues in the Bay View neighborhood. The building’s location offers residents convenient access to grocery stores, public transportation, restaurants, coffee shops and neighborhood activities. Completed in 1971, the building is 12 stories and offers 110 1-bedroom apartments with wonderful views of the neighborhood.

Dave's Thoughts On Lincoln Court

This property is funded through HUD’s Public Housing program. These properties are typically owned and managed by a Public Housing Authority. These properties tend to be much older, as no new public housing has been built in many years. Since the Federal budget has historically (and notoriously) underfunded public housing renovations for decades, these properties tend to have higher vacancies due to uninhabitable units or liveable units that are in poor condition. In addition, since all public housing properties offer rent subsidies, low-income residents only pay rent based on their incomes. For that reason, these properties tend to have longer waiting lists. Since Lincoln Court participates in the Public Housing program and has a property based subsidy, if you have a Section 8 voucher, you would have to give up your voucher to move in.
