This week, we have added 7 new waiting lists to our open Section 8 waiting lists page. We are now aware of 486 open Section 8 waiting lists, and 10 waiting lists that are opening soon. Here are the new scheduled waiting lists that are open now or opening soon:
New Orleans, Louisiana: The Housing Authority of New Orleans (HANO) is currently accepting Public Housing and Scattered-Site pre-applications, from February 15, 2016 at 8:00 am, until February 19, 2016 at 5:00 pm CT. Pre-applications are available online only. Five preferences have been identified. It is not known how applicants will be placed on the waiting list. St. Charles Parish, Louisiana: The St. Charles Parish Housing Authority (SCPHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently open for two days only, from February 16, 2016 at 8:30 am, until February 17, 2016 at 5:00 pm CT. Pre-applications are available online, and at multiple locations. Four preferences have been identified. It is not known how applicants will be placed on the waiting list. Mahoning County, Ohio: The Youngstown Metropolitan Housing Authority (YMHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently open, from February 12, 2016 at 12:01 am, until February 22, 2016 at 5:00 pm ET. Pre-applications are available online only. Four preferences have been identified. 2,000 applicants will be placed on the waiting list by random lottery. Monroe County, Indiana: The Bloomington Housing Authority (BHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently open, from February 16, 2016 at 12:00 pm, until June 16, 2016 at 4:00 pm ET. Although the BHA website states that the closing date is June 16, 2016 at 4:00 pm, the public notice says that the waiting list will “remain open until further notice. A five (5)-day notice will be given prior to the closing of the waiting list.” This waiting list may close before the scheduled closing date. Pre-applications are available online only. Seven preferences have been identified. Applicants will be placed on the waiting list by date and time of pre-application submission, after sorting preferences. Wichita, Kansas: The Wichita Housing Authority (WHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is opening soon, on February 22, 2016 at 10:00 am CT. Pre-applications will be available online only. There are no preferences. Applicants will be placed on the waiting list by date and time of pre-application submission. Morrison County, Minnesota: The Morrison County HRA (MCHRA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is opening soon, from February 22, 2016 at 9:30 am, until February 26, 2016 at 2:30 pm CT. Pre-applications will be available at the MCHRA office. No more information has been provided about this opening.
