This week, we have added 7 new waiting lists to our open Section 8 waiting lists page. We are now aware of 499 open Section 8 waiting lists, and 7 waiting lists that are opening soon. Here are the new scheduled waiting lists that are currently open and opening soon:
Greene County, New York: The Rural Ulster Preservation Company (RUPCO) Greene County waiting list is currently open, from July 18, 2016 until August 31, 2016 at 4:30 pm ET. Although this housing office covers both Greene and Ulster County, NY, the public notice for this opening specifically states that the Greene County waiting list is open, and does not mention Ulster County. We are waiting for confirmation if Ulster County is included as well. Applications are available online. No preferences have been identified in the public notice. 500 applicants will be placed on the waiting list by random lottery. Portsmouth, Virginia: The Portsmouth Redevelopment & Housing Authority (PRHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is opening soon, from July 26, 2016 at 10:00 am, until July 28, 2016 at 4:00 pm ET. This waiting list was scheduled to open for one day in May 2016. However, the PRHA suspended the opening, and announced it would provide more information about reopening at a later date. Applications will be available online. This waiting list has an unconfirmed number of preferences. Applicants will be placed on the waiting list by date and time the application is received, after sorting preferences. Read more on how to apply on our PRHA information page here.
Spartanburg County, South Carolina: The Spartanburg Housing Authority (SHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is opening soon on a limited basis, from August 1, 2016 at 12:00 am, until August 12, 2016 at 12:00 am ET. According to the SHA, this waiting list is only open to near elderly (50-61), elderly (62+), and disabled applicants. Applications will be available online. There are no preferences. Applicants will be placed on the waiting list by date and time the application is received. Read more on how to apply on our SHA information page here.
Beaumont, Texas: The Beaumont Housing Authority (BHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is opening soon, from August 8, 2016 until August 12, 2016. Applications will be available online. No preferences have been identified on the public notice. It is not known how applicants will be placed on the waiting list. Read more on how to apply on our BHA information page here.
Pharr, Texas: The Pharr Housing Authority (PHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is opening soon for one day only, on August 11, 2016, from 8:30 am until 11:30 am CT. Applications will be available in person. There are no preferences. Applicants will be placed on the waiting list by date and time the application is received. Campbell County, Tennessee: The Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA): Campbell County Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is opening soon for one day only, on August 1, 2016, from 6:00 am until 11:59 pm CT. Applications will be available online. No preferences have been identified on the public notice. It is not known how applicants will be placed on the waiting list. Michigan City, Indiana: The Michigan City Housing Authority (MCHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is opening soon on a limited basis, on July 25, 2016 at 12:00 am CT. According to the MCHA, this waiting list is opening “for Michigan City residents only. If you currently do not live in Michigan City, your application will not be accepted.” Applications will be available online. There is one preference.
