This week, we have added 8 new waiting lists to our open Section 8 waiting lists page. We are now aware of 483 open Section 8 waiting lists, and 9 waiting lists that are opening soon. Here are the new scheduled waiting lists that are currently open or opening soon:
Scranton, Pennsylvania: The Scranton Housing Authority (SHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently open. As of February 1, 2016, we have been notified that this waiting list will be closing soon. Pre-applications are available at the SHA office, and by phone. Three preferences have been identified. Applicants will be placed on the waiting list by date and time of pre-application submission, after sorting preferences. For more information, please visit our SHA information page.
Aurora, Illinois: The Aurora Housing Authority (AHA) Section 8 Project-Based Voucher 4 bedroom waiting list closes on February 12, 2016 at 4:30 pm CT. Pre-pplications are available online. No preferences have been identified. it is not known how applicants will be placed on the waiting list. For more information, please visit our AHA information page.
West Orange, New Jersey: The West Orange Public Housing Agency (WOPHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is opening soon, from February 10, 2016 at 1:00 pm, until February 11, 2016 at 4:00 pm ET. Applications will be available at the WOPHA council chambers. One preference has been identified. 150 applicants will be placed on the waiting list by random lottery, after sorting preferences. Multi-County, Ohio: The Allen Metropolitan Housing Authority (AMHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is opening soon for one day only, on February 20, 2016, from 10:00 am, until 2:00 pm ET. The Allen Metropolitan Housing Authority covers the Counties of Allen, Auglaize, Mercer, Putnam, and Van Wert, OH. Pre-applications are available now, but can only be submitted during the opening period stated above. Pre-applications are available online, and at the AMHA office. Two preferences have been identified. Applicants will be placed on the waiting list by date and time of pre-application submission. For more information, please visit our AMHA information page.
Multi-County, Virginia: The Virginia Housing Development Authority (VHDA): Amherst, Appomattox, and Nelson, VA. Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is opening soon for one day only, on February 25, 2016 from 9:00 am, until 3:00 pm ET. Pre-applications will be available online.

Rockbridge County, Virginia: The Virginia Housing Development Authority (VHDA): Rockbridge County, City of Buena Vista, and City of Lexington, VA. Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is opening soon for one day only, on February 26, 2016 from 11:00 am, until 5:00 pm ET. Pre-applications will be available online. Multi-County, MI: The Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA): Ogemaw and Roscommon County Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting lists are opening soon, from March 1, 2016 at 8:00 am, until May 27, 2016 at 5:00 pm ET. Pre-applications will be available online only. Two preferences have been identified. Applicants will be placed on the waiting list by date and time of pre-application submission, after sorting preferences. For more information, please visit our MSHDA information page.
Michigan City, Indiana: The Michigan City Housing Authority (MCHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is opening soon, on February 11, 2016 at 9:00 am CT. Although this waiting list will be technically open indefinitely, the MCHA is only accepting the first 369 pre-applications. It is likely the waiting list will close soon after it opens. Pre-applications will be available online. One preference has been identified. Applicants will be placed on the waiting list by date and time the pre-application is received, after sorting preferences. For more information, please visit our MCHA information page.
Honolulu County, Hawaii: The Hawaii Public Housing Authority (HPHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is opening soon. Although a HPHA representative confirmed with us in December that the waiting list opening date has been pushed back to January 2016, we have now confirmed that the office cannot estimate what month it will reopen.
