This week, we have added 5 new waiting lists to our open Section 8 waiting lists page. With 6 waiting lists closing since last week, we are now aware of 436 open Section 8 waiting lists, and 6 waiting lists that are opening soon. Here are the Section 8 waiting lists that are opening soon or now open since last week:
Geauga County, Ohio: The Geauga Metropolitan Housing Authority (GMHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is opening soon, from October 13, 2015, until October 27, 2015. Pre-applications will be available online and at the GMHA office. Four preferences have been identified. There is no limit of how many qualified applicants the GMHA will place on the waiting list by date and time of the pre-application submission. DeKalb County, Illinois: The Housing Authority of the County of DeKalb (HACD) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher and Public Housing waiting lists are opening soon to the general public, on October 20, 2015 at 8:30 am CT. These waiting lists are currently open on a limited basis, only for households that are elderly (62+), disabled, or have been displaced by a natural disaster or government action. According to the HACD, “only applicants who qualify for [two] or more local preferences and are income eligible will be placed on the waiting list.” These waiting lists will close once 5,000 total pre-applications have been submitted. Pre-applications will be available online only. Six preferences have been identified. The HACNB will place qualified applicants on the waiting list by date and time of the pre-application submission. Mansfield, Connecticut: The Mansfield Housing Authority (MHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is opening soon, from October 21, 2015 at 12:00 am, until October 23, 2015 at 11:59 pm ET. Pre-applications will be available online only. No preferences have been identified. The MHA will place 250 qualified applicants on the waiting list by random lottery. Clayton County, Georgia: The Jonesboro Housing Authority (JHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently open, from October 5, 2015 at 9:00 am, until October 9, 2015 at 4:00 pm ET. Pre-applications are available online only. No preferences have been identified. The CM will place 1,200 qualified applicants on the waiting list by random lottery. Columbus, Ohio: The Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list opened on September 9, 2015, and is open indefinitely. Pre-applications are available online only. No preferences have been identified. The CMHA stated that it would make a lottery pull to issue 200 vouchers by October 5, 2015. According to an October 6, 2015 article by The Columbus Dispatch, more than 24,000 households have applied to this waiting list. For more information, please visit our CMHA information page.
