This week, we have added 11 new waiting lists to our open Section 8 waiting lists page. Accounting for the seven waiting lists that have closed since last week, we are now aware of 356 open Section 8 waiting lists, and 6 waiting lists that are opening soon. Please read our summary below of notable Section 8 waiting lists that are opening soon, now open, or closed since last week.
Everett, Washington: The Everett Housing Authority (EHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is opening soon on a limited basis, from July 21, 2015 at 10:00 am, until July 31, 2015 at 4:00 pm PDT. According to the EHA, this waiting list will only be open, “to applicants who meet one of EHA’s local preferences.” Applications will be available online only in English, Spanish, Russian, Arabic and Vietnamese. Two preferences have been identified. The EHA does not have a limit of how many households will be added to the waiting list, but they will be added by date and time of the application’s submission. Kankakee County, Illinois: The Kankakee County Housing Authority (KCHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is opening soon, from July 22, 2015 at 9:00 am, until July 24, 2015 at 2:00 pm CDT. Applications will be available at the KCHA office. Four preferences have been identified. The KCHA does not have a limit of how many application will be added to the waiting list, but they will be added by date and time of the application’s submission. San Luis Obispo County, California: The Housing Authority of San Luis Obispo (HASLO) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is opening soon, from August 21, 2015 at 9:00 am, until September 10, 2015 at 5:00 pm PDT. Applications will be available online only. Nine preferences have been identified. The HASLO will place 500 households onto the waiting list by random lottery. Tacoma, Washington: The Tacoma Housing Authority (THA) Housing Opportunity Program waiting list opened on July 13, 2015 at 8:00 am, and will remain open until July 22, 2015 at 5:30 pm PDT. The Housing Opportunity Program is similar to the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program. Applications are available online, by phone and at the THA office. No preferences have been identified. The THA will place 1,200 households onto the waiting list by random lottery, and it is unknown how many have applied. For more information, please visit our THA web page.
Wilmington, Delaware: The Wilmington Housing Authority (WHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list opened for one day on July 11, 2015, and is currently closed. Applications were available at the Herihy Apartments Community Room. Three preferences were identified. The WHA accepted 2,211 applications, and will place and unknown number of households onto the waiting list on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, please visit our WHA web page.
Greenburgh, New York: The Greenburgh Housing Authority (GHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list opened for one day on July 14, 2015, and is currently closed. Applications were available online only. Two preferences were identified. Only the first 2,000 applications were accepted, and it is unknown how many households will be placed onto the waiting list. Dallas, Texas: The Dallas Housing Authority (DHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list was opened on July 7, 2015, and closed on July 10, 2015. Applications were available online only. Four preferences were identified. The DHA will place 5,000 households onto the waiting list by random lottery, and it is not known how many applied. Slidell, Louisiana: The Slidell Housing Authority (SHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list was opened on July 6, 2015, and closed on July 9, 2015. Applications were available online and at the SHA office. No preferences were noted. Sayreville, New Jersey: The Housing Authority of the Borough of Sayreville (HABS) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list was opened May 20, 2015, and closed on July 8, 2015. Applications were available at the HABS office. No preferences were identified.
