Every week, Affordable Housing Online announces the latest Section 8 waiting list openings for renters in search of low-income housing assistance in the U.S.
Many waiting lists have different requirements on how to apply. And sometimes, it can be hard to find all the important details. AHO gathers all of this information to save renters time in their housing search.
The new Section 8 waitlist announced this week opens today, and a new waitlist for Public Housing apartments opens soon.

Note: Applicants do not need to live in the area to apply to most waiting lists. Once a waiting list closes, it may stay closed for many years.
New Section 8 Announcements
Cleburne, Texas Waiting List
The Cleburne Housing Agency (CHA) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from January 16, 2023 at 12:00 pm CT, until further notice.
Other Program Announcements
Note: These waiting lists are not for the Section 8 HCV program, but they are for other affordable housing programs that also assist low-income renters.
Camarillo, Thousand Oaks and Meiners Oaks/Ojai, California Waiting List
The Area Housing Authority of the County of Ventura (AHA) will accept Family and Senior/Disabled Public Housing waiting list applications from February 1, 2023 at 8:00 am, until February 15, 2023 at 4:00pm PT.

New Jersey Statewide Waiting List
The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher statewide waiting list applications from January 17, 2023 at 9:00 am, until February 3, 2023 at 5:00 pm ET.
Multi-County, Tennessee Waiting List
The Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA) is accepting Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list for Cannon, Cheatham, Fayette, Montgomery, Robertson, Sumner, Tipton, Trousdale and Wilson County for one day only, on January 18, 2023 from 6:00 am until 11:59 pm CT.
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Waiting List
The Philadelphia Housing Authority will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications during an opening period that will be announced soon.
Tucson and Pima County, Arizona Waiting List
The City of Tucson Department of Housing and Community Development will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from January 3, 2023 at 9:00 am, until further notice.
Niagara Falls, New York Waiting List
The City of Niagara Falls (CONF) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from January 9, 2023 at 8:00 am, until January 23, 2023 at 11:59 pm ET.
Fort Mill, South Carolina Waiting List
The Housing Authority of Fort Mill (HAFM) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher and Multifamily Program waiting list applications from January 1, 2023 at 8:00 am, until January 30, 2023 at 7:59 am ET.
