Affordable Housing Online has three (3) waiting list updates again today — this time for Section 8 Vouchers and Rural Development apartments! Today's alert is for low-income housing in the South and Midwest.

Opens Soon: Southern Mississippi Section 8 Voucher Waiting List
The South Mississippi Housing Authority (SMHA) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from June 17, 2024 at 8:00 am CT, until June 21, 2024. This is the first time the waiting list has opened since it closed in February, 2022.
This waiting list is for Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher rental housing assistance in Covington, Forrest, George, Greene, Hancock, Harrison, Jackson, Jones, Lamar, Marion, Pearl River, Perry, Stone, and Wayne County Mississippi.
There are nine preferences for applicants, and 10,000 selected applicants will be placed on the waiting list by random lottery according to these preferences. To apply, an online application must be submitted.

Closes Today: McHenry County, Illinois Section 8 Voucher Waiting List
The McHenry Housing Authority (MHA) is accepting Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications until June 12, 2024 at 5:00 pm CT. This is the first time the waiting list has been open since it closed in February, 2018.
This waiting list has one preference, and 5,000 selected applicants will be placed on the waiting list by random lottery after sorting for preferences. To apply, complete the online application.

Opens Soon: Belle Plaine and Jordan, Minnesota Rural Development Project-Based Waiting List
The Scott County Community Development Agency (SCCDA) will accept Rural Development waiting list applications for Bell Haven and Britland Apartments from June 13, 2024 at 8:00 am CT, until further notice.
Preferences for this waiting list have not yet been confirmed. It is not known how applicants will be placed on the waiting list, either. An online application must be submitted to apply.
