For our mid-week alert, Affordable Housing Online has five waiting list updates for Section 8 and Project-Based Vouchers! Like yesterday, today's alert is for low-income rental housing in the Southeast, Midwest, and West Coast.

These waiting lists opened on a previous day, and are scheduled to close today. Even though a number of applications have already been submitted, it is still possible to qualify for these waiting lists.
Boulder, Colorado Mainstream Voucher Waiting List
Boulder Housing Partners (BHP) is closing its Mainstream Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list for applications on June 26, 2024, at 4:00 pm MT.
This marks the first opening since November 2023, targeting applicants under 62 years of age who have a disability. The waiting list prioritizes several preferences, and applicants will be selected through a random lottery system after sorting by these preferences. Applications can only be submitted online during the open window.

Richmond and North Chesterfield, Virginia Senior Project-Based Voucher Waiting List
Moving to another area, the Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority (RRHA) is accepting applications for its Senior Section 8 Project Based Voucher waiting list until June 26, 2024, at 5:00 pm ET.
This includes Watermark Gardens, Blackwell Senior Cottages, and Winchester Forest Apartments; catering to older adults with varying age requirements.
The number of preferences for this waiting list has not been confirmed, and the method by which applicants will be placed on the waiting list remains unknown as well. Similar to BHP, RRHA also requires applications to be submitted online during the designated period.

These waiting lists open today after being closed for application submissions for a period of time. Most of these openings are only for a limited time, so don't delay if an opportunity is right for you.
Charleston, South Carolina RAD Project-Based Voucher Waiting List
The Housing Authority of the City of Charleston (HACC) is set to open its Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) Section 8 Project-Based Voucher waiting list for 2-bedroom apartments at Project 23. This brief application window is scheduled for just one hour on June 26, 2024, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm ET, marking its first reopening since February 2024. Located at 1031 King St, Charleston, SC, Project 23 is the sole property associated with this waiting list.
The details on the number of preferences for this waiting list are yet to be confirmed. Similarly, the method of how applicants will be placed on the waiting list remains unspecified.

Monterey County, California Section 8 Voucher Waiting List
The Housing Authority of the County of Monterey (HACM) is set to reopen its Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list from July 1, 2024, at 9:00 am until July 12, 2024, at 11:59 pm PT. This marks its first availability since October 2017.
While specific preferences for the waiting list have not yet been confirmed, the selection process will involve a random lottery to place 5,000 selected applicants on the list, prioritized by these unconfirmed preferences. Applicants can find income limits and complete the application process online during the specified period.

Kenosha, Wisconsin Section 8 Voucher Waiting List
In another Section 8 opening, the Kenosha Housing Authority (KHA) will also be accepting applications for its Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program, but only for one day on July 24, 2024, from 9:00 am until 9:00 pm CT.
This waiting list has not accepted applications since August 2022. KHA has specified multiple preferences that will influence the random lottery selection process, and expects to place between 1,500 to 2,000 applicants on the waiting list.
Income qualifications for applicants vary based on household size, with detailed limits provided online. KHA requires that all applications be submitted online within the open period.
