There are five waiting lists for low-income housing that open across the country next week!
Waiting list openings for affordable rental housing are spread out on three different days next week. These waiting lists will be open for Section 8 Vouchers, Project-Based Vouchers, and Public Housing.
These are the waiting lists opening between June 17–21, 2024:
Des Moines, Iowa Public Housing Waiting List
To start the week off, the Des Moines Municipal Housing Agency will accept Public Housing waiting list applications for 2, 3, 4 and 5-Bedroom Apartments from June 17, 2024 at 8:00 am, until August 17, 2024 at 5:00 pm CT.
This waiting list has five preferences, and selection will be done by date and time the application is received.
There are multiple ways to get an application for this waiting list, including printing one online, picking one up, and calling to request one by mail.

Milton, New York Senior Project-Based Voucher Waiting List
Also on Monday, the Rural Ulster Preservation Company (RUPCO) will accept Senior Section 8 Project Based Voucher waiting list applications for 1-Bedroom Apartments at Milton Harvest from June 17, 2024, until further notice.
This waiting list is for seniors who are 62 and older. Applications may be picked up or printed online.

There are no new low-income housing waiting list openings next Wednesday.
Township of Montclair, New Jersey Section 8 Voucher Waiting List
Moving onto Wednesday, the Montclair Housing Authority (MHA) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications beginning on June 20, 2024 at 8:30 am ET, until 225 applications have been received. This is the first time the waiting list has opened since 2007.
There are seven preferences for this waiting list, and only 225 applicants will be selected by random lottery. To apply, you must submit the online application.

There are no new low-income housing waiting list openings next Thursday.
Thibodaux, Louisiana Section 8 Voucher Waiting List
As the last Section 8 opening of the week, the City of Thibodaux Office of Housing and Community Development (HCD) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from June 21, 2024 at 8:00 am CT, until 100 applications are accepted. This is the first time the waiting list has been open since it closed in May, 2023.
To apply, you must call the phone number given by the HCD for this waiting list. If there is a busy signal, or no dial tone at all, keep calling until you reach a representative. With only 100 applications being accepted, this waiting list is expected to close shortly after it opens.
Get Ready to Apply for the Thibodaux, LA Section 8 Waiting List
Tallahassee, Florida Project-Based Voucher Waiting List
For the final opening this week, the Tallahassee Housing Authority (THA) will accept Section 8 Project Based Voucher waiting list applications from 1, 2 and 3-Bedroom apartments from Goodbread Apartments from June 21, 2024, until July 20, 2024.
Goodbread Apartments offers 1, 2, and 3-Bedroom units. Applicants will be selected by random lottery.
