This week’s report highlights the most current Section 8 waiting lists for the week of February 7, 2022.

New Waiting List Announcements
Lee and Harnett County, NC Section 8 HCV Waiting List
The Sanford Housing Authority (SHA) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from January 4, 2022, until March 4, 2022.
Multi-County, TX Section 8 HCV Waiting List
The Central Texas Council of Governments (CTCOG) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from January 31, 2022 at 8:00 am CT, until further notice.

Williamsburg, VA Public Housing Waiting List
The Williamsburg Redevelopment and Housing Authority (WRHA) will accept Public Housing waiting list applications for 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5-Bedroom apartments for one day on March 8, 2022 from 8:30 am, until 4:30 pm ET.

Putnam County, NY Section 8 HCV Waiting List
The Putnam County Housing Corporation (PCHC) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications until February 14, 2022 at 4:30 pm ET.
Kern County, CA Section 8 HCV Waiting List
The Housing Authority of the County of Kern (HACK) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from January 28, 2022 at 10:00 am, until February 28, 2022 at 5:00 pm PT.
Amarillo, TX Section 8 HCV Waiting List
The City of Amarillo Community Development Department (CACDD) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from January 24, 2022 at 9:00 am, until February 7, 2022 at 5:00 pm CT.
Lake County, IL Section 8 HCV Waiting List
The Lake County Housing Authority (LCHA) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from February 21, 2022 at 8:00 am, until February 25, 2022 at 11:59 pm CT.
Multi-County, NC Section 8 HCV Waiting List
The Economic Improvement Council, Inc. (EIC) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications for Chowan, Pasquotank, Perquimans and Washington County from February 9, 2022 at 8:30 am ET, until further notice.
Boise City and Ada County, ID Limited Section 8 HCV Waiting List
The Boise City/Ada County Housing Authority (BCACHA) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications on a limited basis from January 10, 2022 until February 10, 2022.
San Joaquin County, CA Section 8 HCV, PBV, and Public Housing Waiting Lists
The Housing Authority of the County of San Joaquin (HACSJ) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher, Project-Based Voucher, and Public Housing waiting list applications from December 10, 2021 at 8:00 am, until February 11, 2022 at 5:00 pm PT.
This waiting list was originally scheduled to close on December 24, 2021, and then was extended until January 21, 2022; but has now been extended to the date noted above.
Milwaukee, WI Section 8 HCV, PBV, and Public Housing Waiting Lists
The Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee (HACM) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher, Section 8 Project-Based Voucher, and Public Housing waiting list applications from December 15, 2021 at 9:00 am CT, until further notice.
More Housing Opportunities
If there are no Section 8 HCV openings in your area, there are more waiting lists that are open now or opening soon in other areas. You can apply to open waiting lists in different areas of the country.
There are also many other opportunities available for low-income housing. Apartment properties operated by housing authorities and private management companies have income-based or affordable monthly rent rates. If there are no open waiting lists in your area, there may be open waiting lists in nearby cities and counties.
Applying for affordable housing can be difficult at times. It is important to be familiar with the requirements and qualifications before applying. Knowing these policies helps make these programs easier to understand.
