The Minneapolis Public Housing Authority (MPHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently closed. It was last open for one week in June, 2019; and before that in June, 2008. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.
To apply during the opening period, applicants were required to complete the online application.
2,000 applicants were placed on the waiting list by random lottery, by order of preference.
According to the MPHA, "The housing authority will award 95% of waiting list placements to applicants who live, work, or attend school in Minneapolis. The remaining 5% of waiting list placements will be awarded to any other applicant. The residency preference does not have the purpose or effect of delaying or otherwise denying admission based on race, color, ethnic origin, gender, religion, disability, or age of any member of the applicant family."

The 3, 4 and 5 bedroom waiting lists was last open in October 2024 and November 2021. The 2 bedroom public housing waiting list was only open in November 2021 and remained closed in 2024.
The MPHA is accepted applications for this waiting list from October 10, 2024 at 8:00 am, until October 15, 2024 at 12:00 pm CT.

According to the MPHA, "If you are disabled, you must provide proof of your disability (such as receiving Social Security Income or Social Security Disability Income). If you are applying as a disabled individual and are not receiving SSI Disability Income, you must provide a Request for Medical Information Form completed by your physician.
