Open Until Further Notice: Friend Housing Authority Public Housing Waiting List

The Friend Housing Authority (FHA) is currently accepting Public Housing waiting list applications for general occupancy.

The FHA offers one Public Housing community with 30 units for general occupancy, ranging in size from 1 to 2 bedrooms. Please only apply if your family composition can fit into one of these units.

Please note: This waiting list has preferences. This means that applicants who qualify for these preferences will receive assistance before applicants who do not. Because of these preferences, applicants who do not qualify may have a longer wait to receive assistance.

There are two ways to apply:

1. Visit the FHA office to pick up an application, located at 1027 2nd St., Friend, NE 68359, from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm CT, Monday-Friday.
2. Download an application here (click on administration tab and the application will show up), then print and complete.

Once the application has been completed, it can be mailed or hand delivered to the address listed above, from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm, Monday-Friday.

Documents are not needed at this time. But, if you would like to bring them to keep them file here is what will be needed: Social Security Cards and birth certificates for all household members, government issued IDs for all adult household members, SS/SSI/unemployment award letter (if applicable), proof of all other income.

The FHA does have a preference for: Displaced by a natural disaster, displaced by government action, victim of domestic violence, working, enrolled in a job training program, or attending school full time.

Important note: Applicants who have been placed on the waiting list must inform the housing authority immediately if your application information changes (such as contact information, income, and household members). In the case that the office sends a notice that does not get returned, or if application information is out of date, your name may be terminated from the waiting list. Contact the housing authority to find out how to update application information.
