This waiting list is for Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher rental housing assistance in Pomona, California.

The Pomona Housing Authority (PHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently closed. Applications were last accepted from May 3, 2021 until May 10, 2021. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

To apply during the opening period, applicants were required to complete the online application.

This waiting list had the following preferences:

  • Please note that priority is given within the preference to veterans and/or active duty service people and their spouse or widow/er.  
    • Homeless – To qualify for the Homeless preference, an applicant family/individual must be Homeless with ties to Pomona.  Only applicants that verifiably lack housing and are identified by City of Pomona staff or partners (i.e. Pomona Police Department, Pomona Fire Department, Code Enforcement personnel, Homeless Services/Outreach Team and/or recognized Homeless Service Organization) as being homeless in Pomona, will be considered qualified. 
    • Mainstream – To qualify for the Mainstream Preference, a household member must satisfy all three eligibility criteria: (1) must be between 18 and 61 years old, (2) must be disabled, (3) must be homeless in Pomona (see definition above) and working with a recognized Homeless Service Organization in Pomona.
    • Resident – To qualify for the Resident Preference, an applicant family/individual must live or work or have been hired to work 30 hours or more per week or enrolled in an accredited educational program designed to prepare the individual for the job market, or are attending school full-time in Pomona.

Selected applicants were placed on the waiting list by random lottery, weighed by order of preferences.
