Valley Oaks is a 48-unit family-style housing community located in North Knoxville with convenient access to Interstate 40. In 2010, the property underwent a $1.6 million redesign process that transformed the apartments through building facade enhancements to increase the attractiveness of the community, infrastructure upgrades and extensive interior renovations.
The apartments were renovated as part of Enterprise Green Communities, a national green building program for affordable housing. The energy-efficient upgrades ensured conservation of water and lowering of utility costs.
Since Valley Oaks Apartments participates in the RAD Section 8 Project-Based Section 8 Program, your rent would be subsidized. You would not pay more than 30% of your income for rent. To qualify, you must earn 50% or less of the Area Median Income (AMI), which you can find on this page’s income chart. Also, project-based RAD Section 8 properties tend to have longer waiting lists, with some with waiting lists going out for years. Since this property participates in the RAD Section 8 Project Based Rental Assistance program and has a property based subsidy, if you have a Section 8 voucher, you would have to give up your voucher to move in.
