As of July 2017, the Walker County Housing Authority (WCHA) is currently accepting Public Housing waiting list pre-applications for families and senior/disabled households.
To apply:
Once the pre-application has been completed, it must be hand delivered to the address listed above, from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm, on Wednesdays only.
Be sure to include these documents with the pre-application: Social Security Cards and birth certificates for all household members, photo IDs for all household members aged 16 years or older, marriage license (if applicable), school records for any household member attending school, bank account information, veteran (if applicable), food stamp information (if applicable), current landlord information, divorce papers (if applicable).
The WCHA does have a preference point system that may improve an applicant's spot on the waiting list: Catastrophic involuntarily displaced, working family, minimum income of $8,000, minimum income of $5,000, a veteran, or a resident of Walker County.
