The Walker County Housing Authority (WCHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently open until further notice.
There are two ways to apply:
Once the pre-application has been completed, it must be hand delivered to the address listed above, from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm on Wednesdays only.
Be sure to include these documents with the pre-application: Social Security Cards and birth certificates for all household members, photo IDs for all household members aged 16 years or older, marriage license (if applicable), school records for any household member attending school, bank account information, veteran (if applicable), food stamp information ( if applicable), current landlord information, divorce papers (if applicable).
The following preferences have been identified: elderly, disabled, involuntarily displaced, substandard living, rent burdened, live in Walker County, veteran, on the waiting list for more than half a year.

Walker County Housing Authority has preferences for: Elderly, Displaced by Natural Disaster, Live, Work, or Attend School Locally, Veterans, Displaced by Government Action, Live in Substandard Housing, Disabled, Rent Burdened. Preferences are not required but Section 8 Voucher applicants that meet these criteria will be moved up the waiting list.
