How a Government Shutdown Would Affect HUD Offices

By Nathan Brunet on December 20th, 2018

Wednesday 12/16 Editor's Update: No resolution was made by the deadline, and the government shutdown has been in effect since Saturday, December 22, 2018. The latest reports say that President Trump will not sign a spending bill to avoid a potential government shutdown, unless funds are added for building a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border. If signed, the bill would fund government operations until February 8, 2019. But if the bill is not signed by midnight on Friday, the U.S. government will shut down until an agreement is reached between Congress and the President. When government offices are closed at times that should be normal hours of operation, it could create issues for citizens who rely on communication with those offices. Tenants, landlords, persons on a waiting list, and potential applicants should know how Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) offices operate during a government shutdown.
