HUD has announced several disaster relief options for persons affected by the recent hurricanes in Florida, Georgia, Texas, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands:

Disaster Relief Options for Federal Housing Administration (FHA) Homeowners

Mortgage Insurance for Disaster Victims - Section 203(h)
The Section 203(h) program is for victims of a major disaster who have lost their homes, and are in the process of rehabilitating or purchasing another home.
Rehab Mortgage Insurance - Section 203(k)
The Section 203(k) insurance program assists homebuyers and homeowners in the purchasing or refinancing of a house, including rehabilitation.
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Disaster Recovery Program
A CDBG is a flexible grant that is used in a city, county, or state to rebuild the area. This specific part of the program is for areas recovering from Presidentially-declared disasters.
HUD also provided information for the Section 108 Loan Guarantee Program, which provides a loan usually between $500,000 and $140 million for the development or rehabilitation of an apartment community.
Affordable housing is for both families and individuals.
