Now into the middle of the week, Affordable Housing Online has four waiting list updates for Section 8 and Project-Based Vouchers! Today's alert is for low-income rental housing all along the east coast.

Waiting Lists Opening July 10

These waiting lists open today after being closed for application submissions for a period of time. Most of these openings are only for a limited time, so don't delay if an opportunity is right for you.

Nash and Edgecombe County, North Carolina Section 8 Voucher Waiting List

For our first update today, Nash-Edgecombe Wilson Community Action, Inc (NEWCA) is set to open its Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list starting on July 10, 2024, at 9:00 am ET.

This application period will remain open until 500 applications have been received. Interested applicants should prepare to submit their applications through the NEWCA website while the waitlist is open. Details regarding preferences and the selection process have not been confirmed yet.

Englewood, New Jersey Section 8 Voucher Waiting List

In another Section 8 opening, the Englewood Housing Authority (EHA) will begin accepting Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications on July 10, 2024, at 8:30 am ET, until July 24, 2024, at 4:00 pm ET. This marks the first opening since July 2023.

The waiting list has a preference for residents who live and/or work in Englewood. Applicants will be selected through a random lottery, considering the preferences, with 300 chosen to be placed on the waiting list. Applications must be submitted online during the open period.

Plant City, Florida Public Housing Waiting List

Moving to a different housing program, the Plant City Housing Authority (PCHA) will accept Public Housing waiting list applications starting on July 10, 2024, at 9:00 am ET, until an adequate pool of applications is reached. This reopening comes after the list was last closed in May 2024.

The waiting list includes preferences for individuals currently working at least 30 hours per week for the past six months and those affected by a natural disaster or catastrophe. The method for placing selected applicants on the waiting list remains unspecified. Applications must be completed online while the waitlist is open.

Waiting Lists Announced July 10

These waiting lists were just discovered by our housing experts, and are either open now or will open soon. Make sure you get everything you need to know to apply during the opening period.

West Hartford, Connecticut Project-Based Voucher Waiting List

As the one new announcement today, the West Hartford Housing Authority (WHHA) will open the Section 8 Project Based Voucher waiting list applications for 1 and 2-bedroom apartments at The Faxon from July 15, 2024, at 8:30 am until July 19, 2024, at 11:59 pm GMT.

Applicants will be placed on the waiting list by a random lottery system, with 400 applicants selected. There are several preferences for this waiting list, although they have not yet been confirmed. Waiting Lists Closing July 10

These waiting lists opened on a previous day and are scheduled to close today. Even though a number of applications have already been submitted, it is still possible to qualify for these waiting lists.
