In the second alert of the week, Affordable Housing Online has three updates for Public Housing and Project-Based Voucher waiting lists!
Opportunities for these low-income apartments are available in southeastern and midwestern parts of the country.

These waiting lists open today after being closed for a period of time. Most of these openings are only for a limited time, so don't delay if an opportunity is right for you.
Charleston, South Carolina Public Housing Waiting Lists
Beginning with waiting lists that are open for a very short time, the Housing Authority of the City of Charleston (CHA) will open its Public Housing waiting list for one and five-bedroom apartments on July 23, 2024.
This short opening period, with applications available for just one hour from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm ET.
Currently, the preferences for the waiting list are not confirmed, and the selection process for placing applicants on the waiting list remains undisclosed. Interested applicants must complete the online application during the specified window.

Chicago Heights Illinois Veteran Project-Based Voucher Waiting List
Heading northwest, the Housing Authority of Cook County (HACC) is opening a Section 8 Project Based Voucher waiting list for one and two-bedroom apartments at Otto Square Veterans Housing Apartments. This waiting list will be open from July 23, 2024, at 10:00 am until July 25, 2024, at 4:00 pm CT.
It's important to note that currently, only veteran applications will be accepted, and these will be placed on the waiting list through a randomized computer-generated lottery system. Non-veteran applications will not be considered at this time.
Applications must be submitted online during the open period.

These waiting lists opened on a previous day and are scheduled to close today. Even though a number of applications have already been submitted, it is still possible to qualify for these waiting lists.
