For our mid-week alert, Affordable Housing Online has five updates for Section 8 Voucher and Public Housing waiting lists!

Today's alert is for low-income housing mostly on the eastern side of the country, with one opening in the Midwest.

Waiting Lists Opening July 24

These waiting lists open today after being closed for a period of time. Most of these openings are only for a limited time, so don't delay if an opportunity is right for you.

Kenosha, Wisconsin Section 8 Voucher Waiting List

Starting the day with a big opening, the Kenosha Housing Authority (KHA) will be accepting Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications for one day only on July 24, 2024, from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm CT.

This marks the first time the waiting list has been open since August 2022.

The waiting list includes several preferences, and between 1,500 to 2,000 applicants will be placed on the list through a random lottery based on these preferences. Interested applicants need to complete the online application during the open period.

Charleston, South Carolina Public Housing Waiting List

Moving on to other housing programs, the Housing Authority of the City of Charleston (CHA) will accept Public Housing waiting list applications for 2-bedroom apartments on July 24, 2024, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm ET.

This is the first time the waiting list has been open since September 2023. Although preferences and the selection process are not yet confirmed, applicants are required to apply online during the open window.

Cleveland, Tennessee Public Housing Waiting List

The Cleveland Housing Authority (CHA) will also be accepting applications for Public Housing, specifically for Efficiency and 1-bedroom apartments, on July 24, 2024, starting at 10:00 am ET until 50 applications have been received. As with Charleston, preferences and the selection process have not been confirmed. Applications must be submitted online.

Waiting Lists Closing July 24

These waiting lists opened on a previous day and are scheduled to close today. Even though a number of applications have already been submitted, it is still possible to qualify for these waiting lists.

Englewood, New Jersey Section 8 Voucher Waiting List

In the one closure today, the Englewood Housing Authority (EHA) is closing its Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list on July 24, 2024, at 4:00 pm ET. This is the first time the list has been open since July 2023.

The waiting list has preferences for residents who live and/or work in Englewood, and 300 applicants will be chosen by random lottery based on these preferences. Applications can be submitted online during the specified period.

Waiting Lists Announced July 24

These waiting lists were just discovered by our housing experts, and are currently open or will open soon. Make sure you get everything you need to know to apply during the opening period.

Roanoke, Virginia Public Housing Waiting List

Our new discovery today is an open waiting list that closes soon. The Roanoke Redevelopment and Housing Authority (RRHA) has opened its Public Housing waiting list for 1, 2, 3, and 4-bedroom apartments at Lansdowne Park Development from July 22, 2024, at 8:30 am to July 26, 2024, at 5:00 pm ET.

This is the first reopening since December 2023. While preferences and the selection process are not yet known, applicants can either complete an online application or pick up an application in person at the RRHA.
