In our final alert this week, Affordable Housing Online has another seven updates for Section 8, Project-Based Voucher, Public Housing, and more waiting lists!
Today's alert is for low-income housing in southeastern, midwestern, and western parts of the country.
This is your affordable housing waiting list alert for Friday, July 26, 2024:
These waiting lists open today after being closed for a period of time. Most of these openings are only for a limited time, so don't delay if an opportunity is right for you.
Charleston, South Carolina Public Housing Waiting List
As the one opening today, the Housing Authority of the City of Charleston (CHA) will be opening its Public Housing waiting list for 4-Bedroom apartments for a brief period on July 26, 2024, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm ET.
This marks the first opportunity for new applicants since the list was closed in March 2023. As of now, preferences and the selection process for applicants have not been confirmed. To apply, prospective tenants need to complete the online application during the specified timeframe.

These waiting lists opened on a previous day and are scheduled to close today. Even though a number of applications have already been submitted, it is still possible to qualify for these waiting lists.
Kentucky Regional Section 8 Voucher Waiting List
First, is a big waiting list closure today by the Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHA). The KHA is closing its Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list on July 26, 2024 at 5:00 pm ET.
This waiting list is for Section 8 HCV rental assistance in almost every county in the state. Warren, Hardin, and Daviess County are among the 85 counties served by this program throughout Kentucky.
Preferences and the selection process have not been confirmed by the KHA. Interested applicants must complete an online application available on the KHA website during the application window.

Prineville, Oregon Project Based Voucher Waiting List
Moving to a different voucher program, Housing Works is accepting applications the Barned Butte Vista Apartments Section 8 Project Based Voucher waiting list until July 26, 2024, at 5:00 pm PT.
Barned Butte Vista Apartments offers 2 and 3-Bedroom units. This waiting list includes preferences for residents and workers in Crook, Deschutes, or Jefferson Counties, including others. Selected applicants will be placed on the list by a random lottery, weighted by these preferences.
Applicants need to print and submit a paper application, which can be dropped off, faxed, or emailed to Housing Works.

Vacaville, California Project Based Voucher Waiting Lists
The Vacaville Housing Authority (VHA) will open its Section 8 Project Based Voucher waiting list for three properties, including Orchard Maples, The Willows, and Lincoln Corner Apartments.
Applications will be accepted from July 29, 2024, at 8:30 am until August 12, 2024, at 5:00 pm PT. The selection process will place 200 applicants on each waiting list through a random lottery by order of preferences. Applications must be submitted online during the open period.

Lansing, Michigan Section 8 Project Based Waiting List
Lastly, the Lansing Housing Commission (LHC) is accepting applications for Section 8 Project Based Voucher waiting list for 2-Bedroom apartments at Stadium North Apartments, which cater to seniors 55 and older.
The application window started July 25, 2024, at 12:01 am, and lasts until until August 1, 2024, at 11:59 pm ET.
Preferences and the specific selection process are yet to be confirmed, with placement on the waiting list done via random lottery based on preferences. Applications can be completed online, and assistance is available in person at the Lansing Commission Office on July 29 during designated times.
