Inching further into the week, Affordable Housing Online has seven waiting list updates for Section Vouchers, Project-Based Vouchers, and Public Housing! Today's alert is for low-income rental housing spread out in almost all corners of the country.
This is your affordable housing waiting list alert for Tuesday, July 9, 2024:
These waiting lists open today after being closed for application submissions for a period of time. Most of these openings are only for a limited time, so don't delay if an opportunity is right for you.
Plymouth, Minnesota Section 8 Voucher Waiting List
First, there's one Section 8 opening today. The Plymouth Housing and Redevelopment Authority (PHRA) will be accepting Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from July 9, 2024 at 9:00 am, until July 11, 2024, at 4:30 pm CT.
There are five preferences for this waiting list, including being involuntarily displaced by natural disaster or government action, homelessness, being rent burdened, living or working in Hennepin County, and having a head of household unable to work due to disability.
A total of 500 applicants will be selected for the waiting list through a random lottery based on these preferences. Interested individuals can apply online during the specified period.

Galveston, Texas Public Housing Waiting List
As the other opening today, the Galveston Housing Authority (GHA) will be accepting Section 8 Project-Based Voucher waiting list applications for 2 and 4-bedroom apartments from July 9, 2024, at 9:00 am, until July 11, 2024, at 6:00 pm CT.
As of now, preferences for this waiting list have not been confirmed, and the selection process details are not yet available. Applicants can complete the online application while the waitlist is open.

Marion County, Oregon Section 8 and Project-Based Voucher Waiting Lists
Starting with a big announcement, the Marion County Housing Authority (MCHA) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher and Project-Based Voucher waiting list applications from July 15, 2024, at 8:00 am until August 15, 2024, at 4:00 pm PT.
The Section 8 waiting list has several preferences, including families terminated from the HCV program due to insufficient funding , rent-burdened households in rural Marion County, and residents or workers in the county. Applicants will be placed on the waiting list by date and time of application, weighed by order of preferences.
Applications for both waiting lists can be completed online or in person at the MCHA office.

Orlando, Florida Public Housing Waiting List
Moving east to another big opening, the Orlando Housing Authority (OHA) will accept Public Housing waiting list applications from July 15, 2024, at 12:01 am until July 17, 2024, at 11:59 pm ET.
Preferences and the selection process details for this waiting list have not been confirmed. Applicants must apply online during the opening period.

Plant City, Florida Public Housing Waiting List
Also in Florida, the Plant City Housing Authority (PCHA) will accept Public Housing waiting list applications from July 10, 2024, at 9:00 am ET until an adequate pool of applications is received. This is the first time the waiting list has been open since it closed in May 2024.
Preferences include those currently working at least 30 hours per week for the past six months and those displaced due to natural disasters. Applicants can apply online while the waitlist is open.

Hazleton, Pennsylvania Public Housing Waiting List
For the final announcement, the Hazleton Housing Authority (HHA) will accept Public Housing waiting list applications for 2, 3, and 4-bedroom apartments from July 18, 2024, until further notice.
Preferences for this waiting list include veterans, individuals displaced by natural disasters, and victims of domestic violence. Selected applicants will be placed on the waiting list by date and time of application, weighed by order of preferences.
Applications must be completed in person at the Hazleton Housing Authority Executive Office on Thursdays only, during specified hours.
