There are six waiting lists for low-income housing that open across the country after the holiday weekend!
Waiting lists are opening for affordable rental housing almost every day next week. These waiting lists will be open for Section 8 and Project-Based Vouchers.
These are the waiting lists opening between July 8–12, 2024:
Greater Choanoke Area, North Carolina Section 8 Voucher Waiting List
Starting on the east coast, the Choanoke Area Development Association of NC Inc. (CADA) will be opening the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list for Bertie and Hertford County starting on July 8, 2024.
This marks the first reopening since July 2023, and applications will be accepted until 400 submissions are received. The specific preferences for this waiting list are yet to be confirmed, and the selection process remains unknown. Interested applicants must complete the online application while the list is open.

Plymouth, Minnesota Section 8 Voucher Waiting List
On Tuesday, the Plymouth Housing and Redevelopment Authority (PHRA) will be accepting applications for their Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list from July 9 at 9:00 am, until July 11, 2024, at 4:30 pm CT.
This waiting list includes five preferences, and 500 applicants will be randomly selected by lottery, adhering to these preferences. Applications are to be completed online.

Galveston, Texas Project-Based Voucher Waiting List
Also on this day, the Galveston Housing Authority (GHA) will open its Section 8 Project-Based Voucher waiting list for 2 and 4-bedroom apartments from July 9 at 9:00 am until July 11, 2024, at 6:00 pm CT.
While the preferences for this waiting list have not been confirmed yet, applicants should be prepared for the chance that they may be applied. The exact method of how applicants will be placed on the waiting list is currently unknown, as well. Interested applicants must complete the online application within the given timeframe.

Nash and Edgecombe County, North Carolina Section 8 Waiting List
Moving to Wednesday, Nash-Edgecombe Wilson Community Action, Inc. (NEWCA) will open its Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list for Nash and Edgecombe County on July 10, 2024, at 9:00 am ET, until 500 applications have been received.
The preferences for this list have not yet been confirmed, and the selection process is also unknown. Applicants are required to complete the online application available on the NEWCA website during the open period.

Englewood, New Jersey Section 8 Waiting List
Additionally, the Englewood Housing Authority (EHA) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from July 10 at 8:30 am, until July 24, 2024, at 4:00 pm ET. This is the first reopening since July 2023.
There is one preference for this waiting list, and 300 applicants will be randomly selected. Applications must be submitted online.

Greater Lansing Area, Michigan Section 8 Waiting List
Lastly for this week, the Lansing Housing Commission (LHC) will open its Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list from July 11 at 12:01 am, until July 17, 2024, at 11:59 pm ET. This is the first reopening since November 2023.
This waiting list is for Section 8 HCV rental housing assistance in Lansing, East Lansing, Holt, Dimondale, Potterville, Charlotte, Mason, Grand Ledge, Parts of DeWitt and Williamston, Michigan.
The waiting list includes one preference, and 500 applicants will be chosen by random lottery according to these preferences. Applications must be completed online through the LHC website.

There are no new low-income housing waiting list openings next Friday.
