This waiting list is for Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher rental housing assistance in South Tucson, Arizona.

The South Tucson Housing Authority (STHA) last accepted Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from August 1, 2023, until August 25, 2023. There is no notice when this waiting list will reopen.

To apply while the waitlist was open, applicants were required to complete the online application.

The maximum income limits for each household size were as followed:

  • 1 Person $45,500 | 5 Persons $70,150
  • 2 Persons $52,00 | 6 Persons $75,350
  • 3 Persons $58,500 | 7 Person $80,550
  • 4 Persons $64,950 | 8 Persons $85,750

This waiting list had the following preferences:

  • Working Preference – (1 Point)
    • In order to bring income-earning families into Public Housing and HCV Section 8, the STHA will establish preference for “working” families, where the head, spouse/co-head, or sole member is employed at least 20 hours per week. As required by HUD, families where the head and spouse, or sole member is a person aged 62 or older, or is a person with disabilities, will also be given the benefit of the working preference.
  • Elderly person or family – (1 Point)
    • An elderly person is 62 years of age. An elderly family is one in which the head, spouse/cohead or sole member is an elderly person.
  • Persons or families with Disabilities – (1 Point)
    • Under the public housing program, special rules apply to persons with disabilities and to any family whose head, spouse/co-head is a person with disabilities.
  • Victims of Domestic Violence – (2 Points)
    • The STHA will offer a preference to families that include victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault or stalking that have been referred by a partnering service agency.

Selected applicants were placed on the waiting list by random lottery, by order of preferences.

Closed: 1-Bedroom Senior and Disabled Public Housing Waiting List

The South Tucson Housing Authority (STHA) last accepted Senior/Disabled Public Housing waiting list applications for 1-Bedroom apartments from February 11, 2019, until 100 applications were received. There is no notice when this waiting list will reopen.

To apply while the waitlist was open, applicants were required to:

  1. Complete the application at the STHA office.
  2. Pick up an application at the STHA office.

Once the paper application was completed, it was to be: dropped off at the STHA office.

There were no preferences.
