The Pasco County Housing Authority is currently accepting public housing waiting list applications for families and senior/disabled individuals.

This housing authority offers six public housing apartment communities:
1. Bonnie Dale Apartments is a community that has 48 units ranging in size from 1 to 2 bedrooms
2. Citrus Villas is an apartment community dedicated to senior/disabled individuals with 20 one bedroom units.
3 Cypress Villas I is an apartment community that has 27 units ranging in size from 1 to 3 bedrooms.
4. Cypress Villas II is an apartment community that has 12 units ranging in size from 3 and 4 bedrooms.
5. Pasco Terrace is an apartment community dedicated to senior/disabled individuals with 50 one bedroom units.
6. Sunny Dale is an apartment community that has 50 units ranging in size from 1 to 2 bedrooms.

Once the application has been completed it can be mailed or hand delivered to the housing authority, located at 36739 SR 52, Suite 108, Dade City, FL 33525. 

This housing authority does have a preference point system that may improve your spot on the waiting list: displaced by a natural disaster, victim of domestic violence, or homeless
Please Note: In order to be placed on the preference waiting list, you must attach one of the following documents with your application: referral from a government agency, shelter, police reports, court eviction notice, domestic violence injunction, Fema, or Red Cross documentation.

Pasco County Housing Authority Section 8 HCV Waiting List : Closed

The Pasco County Housing Authority (PCHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently closed. It was last open for 10 days in August 2015. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

Pasco County, FL is about 30 miles north of Tampa, FL.

To apply, applicants were required to complete the online application. The application was available online only. Essentially all electronic devices were compatible, including computers, smart phones, tablets and any video game system with Internet capabilities (such as Xbox One or PlayStation 4).

The PCHA placed 1,000 qualified applicants on the waiting list by random lottery.

Household Characteristics of Voucher Holders for Pasco County Housing Authority

Waiting List and Tenancy

According to the 2016 Q4 Picture of Subsidized Households database, the housing authority's voucher program has an annual turnover of 7% having issued approximately 196 vouchers in the past year. The average voucher holder has received housing benefits for 8 years and 5 months. According to the 2016 PSH database, persons who were issued a voucher in the preceding 12 months waited an average of 23 months on the waiting list1.

Income Characteristics

According to 2016 Q4 Picture of Subsidized Households data, the average voucher household contains 2.5 persons and has a household income of $14,520 per year. 90% of households were very low income (VLI) and 61% were extremely low income (ELI). 32% of households had wages as a major source of income, 1% of households had welfare (TANF, General Assistance or Public Assistance) as their primary source of income, and 65% of households had other income (Social Security, Disability or Pension) as their major source of income.

Heads of Household Characteristics

2% of households were headed by a person 24 years old or less, 55% were headed by a person 25 to 49 years old, 22% were headed by a person 51 to 60 years old, and 21% were headed by a person 62 years old or older. In addition, 1% of households were headed by a person 85 years old or older.

51% of households included children, 6% of which had two adults in the household. 47% of households with children have a female head of household. 82% of all households were headed by a female.

47% of all voucher households were headed by minorities with 26% of all heads of households being Black and 1% being Hispanic.

Of all households participating in the Pasco County Housing Authority Housing Choice Voucher program, 22% include at least one person with a disability. 33% of households with a head of household 61 years or less were headed by a person with a disability. 67% of households headed by someone 62 or older were headed by a person with a disability.

Bedroom Size and Overhousing

23% of voucher holders reside in a home with zero or 1 bedroom, 38% with 2 bedrooms and 39% with 3 or more bedrooms. 17% of voucher recipients are considered overhoused, meaning they occupy a rental unit larger than their family size requires.

Rent, Assistance, and Utility Allowances

The average monthly tenant contribution to rent by Pasco County Housing Authority voucher holders in 2016 was $346 and the average monthly HUD expenditure per voucher holder was $734. The average utility allowance across all voucher recipients is $192.
