How To Apply to the Public Housing Waiting List
The Albia Housing Agency
(AHA) is currently accepting
Public Housing waiting list pre-applications for families and senior/disabled households.
The AHA offers one Public Housing community with 40 units for families and senior/disabled households, ranging in size from 1 to 4 bedrooms.
To apply, visit the AHA to pick up a pre-application, located at 120 A St. S, Albia, IA 52531, from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm CT on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Once the pre-application has been completed, it must be hand delivered to the address listed above, from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Be sure to include these documents with the pre-applications: Birth certificates, Social Security Cards, proof of all income, and photo IDs for all adult household members.

Household Characteristics of Voucher Holders for Albia Housing Agency
Waiting List and Tenancy
According to the 2016 Q4 Picture of Subsidized Households database, the housing authority's voucher program has an annual turnover of 42% having issued approximately 1 vouchers in the past year. The average voucher holder has received housing benefits for 2 years and 10 months. According to the 2016 PSH database, persons who were issued a voucher in the preceding 12 months waited an average of 3 months on the waiting list1.

Heads of Household Characteristics
8% of households were headed by a person 24 years old or less, 68% were headed by a person 25 to 49 years old, 10% were headed by a person 51 to 60 years old, and 15% were headed by a person 62 years old or older. In addition, -1% of households were headed by a person 85 years old or older.
63% of households included children, 8% of which had two adults in the household. 53% of households with children have a female head of household. 82% of all households were headed by a female.
