The Housing Authority of Covington (HAC) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently open, from August, 2014, until further notice.

This waiting list has the following preferences: Elderly, handicapped, disabled, works 25+ hours per week for the last 90 days or more, live/work/attend school full time in Kenton County, KY.

Open Indefinitely: Project-Based Voucher Waiting List

The Housing Authority of Covington (HAC) Section 8 Project Based Voucher waiting list is currently open, since at least April, 2019, until further notice. Waiting lists for a specific community or bedroom size may be closed.

To apply, complete an application at the HAC office, located at 2300 Madison Avenue, Covington, Kentucky 41014; on Mondays only, from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm ET.

Please note: According to the HAC, all adults who will be living in the Section 8 household must be present and you must have all of the items listed below." The list of items required can be found here.

This waiting list has the following preferences: Live or work in Kenton County, Kentucky.

Selected applicants will be placed on the waiting list by date and time the application is received, by order of preference.

IMPORTANT: This is not the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program. Section 8 Project-Based Voucher tenants are required to live in a specific apartment community or scattered site. After one year of occupancy, a Project-Based Voucher tenant may request to be placed on a waiting list to receive the next available Housing Choice Voucher or similar tenant-based rental assistance.

According to the 2016 Q4 Picture of Subsidized Households database, the housing authority's voucher program has an annual turnover of 24% having issued approximately 44 vouchers in the past year. The average voucher holder has received housing benefits for 5 years and 8 months. Heads of Household Characteristics

5% of households were headed by a person 24 years old or less, 50% were headed by a person 25 to 49 years old, 23% were headed by a person 51 to 60 years old, and 22% were headed by a person 62 years old or older. In addition, 2% of households were headed by a person 85 years old or older.

48% of households included children, 2% of which had two adults in the household. 46% of households with children have a female head of household. 79% of all households were headed by a female.

33% of all voucher households were headed by minorities with 31% of all heads of households being Black and 0% being Hispanic.
