The Housing Authority of the City of Tucumcari (HACT) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently open until further notice.

Tucumacari, NM is about 165 miles east of Santa Fe, NM.

There are two ways to apply:

  1. Visit the HACT to pick up a pre-application, located at 323 E Smith Ave., Tucumcari, NM 88401, during normal office hours.
  2. Request to have a pre-application mailed/emailed/faxed by calling (575) 461-4403 during normal office hours.


Once the pre-application has been completed, it must be hand delivered to the address listed above, from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm MT, Monday-Friday.

Be sure to include these documents with the pre-application: Social Security Cards, birth certificates, proof of all income, and photo IDs for all adult household members.

The HACT does not have a preference.

Qualified applicants will be placed by the date and time the pre-application is received.

The Housing Authority of the City of Tucumcari (HACT) is currently accepting Public Housing waiting list pre-applications for families and senior/disabled households.

The HACT offers one Public Housing community with 90 units for families and senior/disabled households, ranging in size from studios to 5 bedrooms.

There are two ways to apply:

  1. Visit the HACT to pick up a pre-application, located at 323 E Smith Ave., Tucumcari, NM 88401, during normal office hours.
  2. Request to have a pre-application mailed, emailed, or faxed to you by calling (575) 461-4403 during normal office hours.

Heads of Household Characteristics

8% of households were headed by a person 24 years old or less, 52% were headed by a person 25 to 49 years old, 16% were headed by a person 51 to 60 years old, and 24% were headed by a person 62 years old or older. In addition, -1% of households were headed by a person 85 years old or older.
