The Oneonta Housing Authority is currently accepting public housing waiting list applications for families and senior/disabled individuals.

 

This housing authority offers two apartment communities that are dedicated to senior/disabled individuals, and one family apartment community.

 

There are two ways to apply for public housing:

1. Request an application be mailed to you by calling 607-432-0170, during normal office hours.

2. Visit the housing authority office to pick up an application, located at: 2 Mitchell St., Oneonta, NY 13820, Monday-Friday, between the hours of 9:00am and 4:30pm.

 

Once the application has been completed, it can be mailed or hand delivered to the address listed above. No documents are needed at this time.

 

This housing authority does not have a preference, your application is placed by date and time received.

Heads of Household Characteristics

1% of households were headed by a person 24 years old or less, 42% were headed by a person 25 to 49 years old, 24% were headed by a person 51 to 60 years old, and 32% were headed by a person 62 years old or older. In addition, 4% of households were headed by a person 85 years old or older.

33% of households included children, -1% of which had two adults in the household. 30% of households with children have a female head of household. 79% of all households were headed by a female.

17% of all voucher households were headed by minorities with 10% of all heads of households being Black and 1% being Hispanic.

The average monthly tenant contribution to rent by Oneonta Housing Authority voucher holders in 2016 was $364 and the average monthly HUD expenditure per voucher holder was $526. The average utility allowance across all voucher recipients is $132.
