Barnum House Apartments opened in 1928 as the former PT Barnum Hotel and than converted to a young and disable and senior community located in downtown Bridgeport at 140 Fairfield Ave. near the Holiday Inn and Courthouse, at the intersection of Main St and Fairfield Ave. We offer studios and one (1) bedrooms living options for seniors on the go. We offer the perfect balance for seniors who want to participate on-site events such as Adult Coloring, Arts and Crafts, Bingo, Game Day, Nail Art, Day Trips or explore the neighborhood. This moderately priced 83 apartment homes high rise is centrally located with easy access to public transportation, views, quiet times in your home. All of our apartment homes feature energy star ranges and refrigerators, wood plank vinyl flooring, spacious closets and ample kitchen cabinets.

We are a Project Based Section 8 building - the rent is based on 30% of your gross income. Applicants must be 62 years or older to apply for residency. Couples are welcome to apply if one of the couple meets the minimum age requirement. Additionally, applicants must meet the eligibility requirements of the Section 8 rental assistance program of the Department of Housing and Urban Development and satisfy the admissions criteria of Barnum House.
