Hoffman Gardens was named in honor of Dr. Charles Hoffman, who was appointed by the Mayor of the City of Hialeah as the first Chairman of the Board of Commissioners on February 14, 1967. Thereafter Dr. Charles Hoffman served three consecutive four year terms. The construction of Hoffman Gardens was completed in October 1971.
