Alton Pointe Apartments and Woodland Park Apartments Waiting List
The Madison County Housing Authority (MCHA) waiting list for Public Housing apartments is currently closed. Applications were last accepted since at least March 2020, until further notice.
There were two ways to apply during the opening period:
- Print the online paper application.
- Call MCHA.
Once the application has been completed, it must be either:
- Mailed to the MCHA.
- Dropped off in person to the MCHA.
This waiting list had the following preferences:
- Residency Preference: Families, who live, work or have been hired to work in Madison County (10 Points)
- Veteran Preference: Families whose Head, Spouse or Co-Head is a current member of the U.S. Armed Forces, a Veteran or the surviving spouse of a Veteran (8 Points)
- Disability Preference: Families whose Head, Spouse, Co-Head is disabled, as defined under Federal Civil Rights Laws (24 CFR Parts8.3, 25.104 and 100.201) (15 Points)
- Working Preference: Families whose Head, Spouse or Co-Head is employed 20 or more hours a week. Elderly applicants will be awarded the 20 points working preference; disabled applicants who already receive 15 points for their disability will be awarded an additional 5 points to equal the 20 point working preference (20 Points)
- Educational/Training Participants Preference: Families whose Head, Spouse or Co-Head is a graduate of or a participant in educational or training programs designed to prepare for the job market. (10 Points)
- Nursing Home Residents Preference: Persons who are current Nursing Home residents in need of housing elsewhere (10 Points)
- Involuntary Displacement Preference: Families who are being or have been displaced due to either a formally declared disaster or government action or actions taken by the owner/agent of the unit (30 Points)
- Disabled Veteran Preference: Families whose Head, Spouse or Co-Head is a current member of the U.S. Armed Forces, a Veteran or the surviving spouse of a Veteran and is disabled, as defined under Federal Civil rights Laws ((24 CFR Parts8.3, 25.104 and 100.201) (23 Points)
- Graduates of the Transitional Housing Program Preference: Families who have graduated from Madison County Community Development’s Transitional Housing Program (10 Points)
- Need for Onsite Support Services for Seriously Mentally Ill: Applies only to Collinsville Commons Apartments (Need is documented by a locus Score between 7 and 27 points)
- John Hamm III Apartments, Tyrone Echols Apartments, and Market Street Homes also gives preference to applicants falling under certain preference types
- Displaced from an urban renewal area Urban renewal is a program of land redevelopment in areas of moderate to high density urban land use. Urban renewal may involve relocation of businesses, the demolition of structures, the relocation of people, and the use of eminent domain (government purchase of property for public use) as a legal instrument to take private property for city-initiated development projects.
- Displaced as a result of a government action For example, city condemns rental property through resolution, tenants are forced to find alternative housing, and housing is demolished.
- Displaced as a result of a major disaster For example, housing was destroyed in earthquake and applicant is in need of alternative housing .
Selected applicants were placed on the waiting list by date and time the application is received, weighed by order of preferences.
