Fifth Avenue Apartments is 72 affordable rental housing units for individuals and families in this near western suburb of Chicago. The development is situated on 5th Avenue, a pedestrian-oriented commercial corridor in the Village of Maywood, allowing tenants easy access to transit, education, and retail. The development targets individuals and families who are income eligible and appropriate for independent living. All units are affordable to households making at or below 60% of the area median income. Units range from studios through three-bedrooms.
This newly constructed 5-story 76,950 square foot structure contains common area space for residents, including offices, a tenant meeting room, laundry facilities, and extra storage. The development consists of precast floor planks which eliminate noise transfer between floors. The units contain features that Interfaith strives to provide in all developments: abundant natural light, quality finishes including durable cabinets, hard surfaces, walk-in closets with hinged doors, and microwaves in every kitchen. The project meets the National Green Building Standards Certification and surpasses requirements for universal design for accessibility.
Because Fifth Avenue Apartments participates in HUD's HOME program for rental housing, at least some of the units in this property are set aside for households at or below 60% of the AMI and rents are capped at the local FMR and in many cases much lower. For a project of this size, some of the units are set aside for households at or below 50% AMI with a corresponding lower rent cap. As this property appears not to have a project-based subsidy or any other Federal assistance, you likely will have to pay your own rent, albeit, at a lower rent amount thanks to the HOME program. Since this property participates in the HOME program, the property is required to accept Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers.
