Northern Kentucky Scholar House is a comprehensive self-sufficiency program that provides affordable housing, child development services, and case management support for single parents as they pursue a degree in higher education. This property consists of 42-two bedroom units and 6-three bedroom apartments and a high-quality child development center on the same campus.
Single parents enrolled in Northern Kentucky Scholar House and attending school are offered support in:
1. Housing, where Section 8 subsidy will keep housing costs low for 48 apartments.
2. Educational and economic support program, where parents connected with other existing economic supports, such as childcare assistance, food stamps, work study programs, financial aid, and provided life skills consisting of on-site workshops and activities that support parents in their roles as students, parents, heads of household, and future employees.
3. On-site Child Care, where children from 6 weeks to school age receive care in an enriching environment (licensed and STAR rated Center) while the parent is in school.
Since this property has a Project-Based Section 8 contract with HUD, some or all of the rents at this community are based on tenant incomes. Tenants leasing units participating in the Section 8 Project-Based Rental Assistance program typically contribute less than 30% of their adjusted income towards rental costs.
Northern Kentucky Scholar House is managed by Neighborhood Foundations.
