Albion Housing Commission Waiting List

The Albion Housing Commission (AHC) is currently accepting Public Housing waiting list pre-applications for families and senior/disabled individuals.The AHC offers one Public Housing community with 218 units for families and senior/disabled individuals.There are two ways to apply:

Visit the AHC to pick up a pre-application, located at 1300 Cooper St., Albion, MI 49224, during normal office hours.
Download the online pre-application here, then print and complete.

Once the application has been completed, it can be mailed to PO Box 630, Albion, MI 49224, or hand delivered to the office address listed above.Be sure to include copies of these documents with your application: Birth certificates, Social Security Cards, proof of all income, and photo IDs for all adult household members.The AHC has listed the following preferences: Families with children, senior, disabled, and veterans.For more information, visit the AHC website, or call the office at (517) 629-2511 during normal office hours.

Dave's Thoughts On Northview Homes

This property is funded through HUD’s Public Housing program. These properties are typically owned and managed by a Public Housing Authority. These properties tend to be much older, as no new public housing has been built in many years. Since the Federal budget has historically (and notoriously) underfunded public housing renovations for decades, these properties tend to have higher vacancies due to uninhabitable units or liveable units that are in poor condition. In addition, since all public housing properties offer rent subsidies, low-income residents only pay rent based on their incomes. For that reason, these properties tend to have longer waiting lists. Since Northview Homes participates in the Public Housing program and has a property based subsidy, if you have a Section 8 voucher, you would have to give up your voucher to move in.
