RUPCO partnered with Kearney Realty Group to bring to life The Mews at Prattsville, a symbol of rebuilding after the 2011 devastating flooding from Hurricane Irene. Located at 5456 Washington Street in Prattsville, this $21-Million multigenerational housing development features 45 apartments for seniors 55+ and working families with modest incomes set in a 12.4-acre campus. Many of the apartments at the Mews include rental assistance that allows vulnerable populations to live sustainably and affordably.
Effective June 1, 2024: The Mews Project-Based Voucher Waiting List will close and we will no longer accept rental assistance applications
Because The Mews at Prattsville participates in HUD's HOME program for rental housing and the LIHTC program, at least some of the units in this property are set aside for households earning 60% or less of the AMI and rents are capped at the local FMR and in many cases much lower. For a HOME project of this size, some of the units are set aside for households at or below 50% AMI with a corresponding lower rent cap. As this property appears not to have a project-based subsidy or any other Federal assistance, you likely will have to pay your own rent, albeit, at a lower rent amount thanks to the HOME and LIHTC programs. Since this property participates in the HOME and LIHTC programs, the property is required to accept Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers.

Applying for housing with bad credit.
Most HUD housing programs, like Section 8 and Public Housing, do not have a credit check. But Section 8 landlords will likely require one for an available unit.Sandra Lewis-Kidd says:
"I received daily updates from Affordable Housing Online on waiting list openings not only in my city, but also other states and cities accepting applications. I was able to apply, and was actually chosen for the Section 8 housing lottery!"
